Barsha Raut (Born 14 December 1993) is an Nepalese actress and a model. She mainly appears in Nepalese comedy-drama and romance films. She is best known for her role as Brinda in Chhakka Panja which became one of the highest grossing film of all time. She features in listings of the nation's most popular personalities.[1][2][3][4]

Raut was born and raised in Sindhuli District, Janakpur, Nepal, she was raised in middle class family, as a teenager she a much interest persuading a career in acting area. Than she moved to Nepal's capital Kathmandu to expand her acting career and got many many changes to play in Nepalese movies than she debuted in Love Birds (2015) alongside Paul Shah and Salon Basnet. Than her first blockbuster film Nai Nabhannu La 4 was released in 2016 than same year her another blockbuster film Chhakka Panja was released which became one of the highest grossing Nepalese film of all time.[5][6][7]

Raut has appeared in television shows including Filmy Buzz, Mazzako Guff and Jeevan Saathi. She has also appeared in many Nepalese music videos she is best known for her performance in Prakash Timilsina's 'Khali' which helped her build acting career in Nepalese film industry and she has appeared in more than 100 music videos.[8][9][10][11]

Barsha Raut was born on 14 December 1993 in Sindhuli District, Janakpur, Nepal to Nepalese-Madeshi family. Raut started her career from modelling which she wasn't approved to do modelling from her family.She currently has a partner Sanjog Koirala who she is leaving with in Kathmandu.[12][13][14][15]

Acting career[edit]

Film debut (2015)[edit]

Raut debuted her acting career from Love Birds in 2015 alongside Paul Shah and Salon Basnet, directed by Suresh Darpan Pokharel the film tells the story about new generations youths in Nepal but the film wasn't that successful in the box office[16]

Commercial Success (2016)[edit]

In 2016 Raut starred in Nepalese Nai Nabhannu La franchises in the fourth instalment, directed by Bikash Acharya the film tells a story of a criminal who breaks into a house where a two girls starts to have a affair on him after the release of the film became one of the highest grossing film of 2017.[17]She was starred with popular Nepalese actors and actress including Priyanka Karki, Paul Shah, Aanchal Sharma, and Anubhav Regmi.[18]

Than she was seen with Deepak Raj Giri, Priyanka Karki, Aaryan Sigdel and Kedar Ghimire in Chhakka Panja (2016), directed by Deepa Shree Niraula which tells a story about Nepalese youths who go to foreign land to earn money for their family, critically acclaimed film which became one of the highest grossing film of all time in Nepal. In the film Raut plays as Brinda who marry a old man than she cheats on him with one of his best friend.[19][20]

Than she was seen with Bipin Karki and Rabindra Singh Baniya in Jatra (2016) which managed to be a successful film in the box office earning 30 million NPR which was another hit film of Raut back to back, in the film she was seen as wife of Bipin Karki.[21][22]
