Bart Hampton

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bart Hampton was leader of the Separation Party of Alberta from 2012-2018, replacing Bruce Hutton in 2012.[1] In 2013, Hampton's Separation Party of Alberta changed its party name back to Alberta First.

Prior to the 2012 general election, Bart Hampton became the new party leader. Hampton was the only candidate to run during the 2012 election yet he failed to win his seat.[2]

In April, 2018, the party changed its name to Western Freedom Party.

In July, 2018, Hampton provided his party's legal foundations and merged under the new name of Freedom Conservative Party of Alberta, under the Interim Leadership of Alberta MLA Derek Fildebrandt.

Alberta separation is again a rising issue of concern in Alberta politics, notably due to the July 2018 Liberal government's surprise stance of not renegotiating Alberta's equalization payments, despite economic downturn in Alberta.[3][4]
