Bartwal are Parmar Rajput caste mainly used in Uttarakhand state. Bartwal are different from "Barthwal" caste, which are the Brahmin caste concentrated in Pauri district.
It is believed that Bartwal originally came from Ujjain in the 8th century AD and settled down in village Raduwa in Chamoli. They are relatives of the king of Ujjain.
