A base quantity[lower-alpha 1] is a type of quantity defined as something that is based on unchanging values in the universe[1][2][3][4], when base quantity is mentioned, it usually means SI base unit, which is the base units of our universe as defined by the SI corporation and is used world-wide as the default units of measurement [5][6][7][8], below is a list of all the SI base units, for more unit's in the si system, see list of physical quantities.

Name Symbol Definition
Second s A unit used to measure time[9][10][11][12]
Metre m A unit used to measure a the distance between two points, also called a meter in american english[13][14][15][16]
Kilogram kg A unit used to measure the mass of object but can also be used as a unit of weight[17][18][19][20], when base quantity is mentioned, it usually means SI base unit, which is the base units of our universe as defined by the SI corporation and is used world-wide as the default units of measurement [21][22][23][24], below is a list of all the SI base units, for more unit's in the si system, see list of physical quantities.
