History

2007 - 2012

In 2007 Basebone Group CEO Michael Holmqvist founded the company and established funding, infrastructure requirements, and management structure.

In 2008 Mainstream value-added services (VAS) were developed, packaged, and sold on a subscription basis in emerging markets.

In 2009 Basebone integrated with the largest mobile network operators (MNOs) in South Africa and became a member of the 'Wireless Application Service Providers Association of South Africa' (WASPA).

In 2010 Basebone added social features to its VAS services to accelerate user engagement and traffic acquisition.

In 2011 Basebone expanded into Kenya and developed markets by entering Australia, Spain, and the Netherlands.

In 2012 Basebone reached its first major milestone of 1 million paid subscribers.

2013 - 2018

In 2013 Basebone expanded into Belgium, Mexico, and Colombia and opened new offices in South Africa.

In 2014 Basebone officially held over 30% of the market share in South Africa.

In 2015 Basebone expanded into Nigeria, France, and India and opened a new office in Spain.

In 2016 Basebone reached 100+ employees and opened new offices in South Africa and Spain.

Baseplay Pulse is an online database of some of the best health experts and fitness advice. Users have access to curated meal plans, workout strategies, classes, and fitness apps.
