Bassam Nassif
Fr. Bassam Nassif is Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology, University of Balamand. He also serves as Protopresbyter and pastor of the Orthodox parish in Douma, Batroun, (Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of Mount Lebanon). His academic and pastoral work focuses on contemporary pastoral and ethical challenges concerning postmodern life, marriage, and family life, with particular emphasis on integrating modern human sciences into pastoral theology and patristic anthropology.[1]
Nassif holds a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Balamand, a Doctor of Ministry in Ministerial Studies and Marital Counselling from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and a Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Nassif serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals and pastoral care institutes. His scholarly contributions include more than forty peer-reviewed journal articles, four book chapters, and several monographs.[2]
His recent publication, The Mystery of Marriage Amid Deconstruction: A Dialogue between Orthodox Anthropology and Postmodern Perspectives, has been published in English,[3] Portuguese,[4] Romanian[5], and Greek.[6] This work explores how modern philosophical thought has reshaped society’s understanding of marriage and human identity.
