- ↑ Scodra is not mentioned before the fourth century, but it was probably included in the Province of Salonica, which then extended over all Illyria. In the sixth century the Emperor Justinian placed it under the Primate of Ochrida, but it continued to be the seat of an Archbishop until the Council of Dalmatia in 877 A.D., when it was reduced to a Bishopric. Bassus, the first Archbishop, lived about 387 A.D., and Archbishop Senecius was a signatory at the Council of Ephesus in 431 A.D. - In: Wadham Peacock: Albania, the Foundling State of Europe, p. 250
