Batam Botanical Garden (Indonesian: Kebun Raya Batam) is a botanical garden located in Batam, Riau Islands, Indonesia.[1] The garden is located on Hang Lekiu street, Nongsa, Batam. It is currently operated by Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Indonesian: Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia or LIPI). The many plants that are preserved in the place consist of 28 families, 140 genera, 2472 plant beds, and 10,000 other plant seeds. These diverse flowers are able to make a beautiful and colourful sight.[2] Kebun Raya Batam offers basic facilities such as toilets, prayer rooms and block paving roads. There are also vendors selling various food items.
Description and demographics[edit]
The gardens were established on the 22 December 2018. However, the plan for its construction was released in 2013. The place was developed by the Plant Conservation Area Development Division, the Botanical Gardens Plant Conservation Center (which is otherwise known as the Bidang Pengembangan Kawasan Konservasi Tumbuhan, which is part of the Pusat Konservasi Tumbuhan Kebun Raya- LIPI (which also developed the Bogor Botanical Gardens). The agency is working on developing similar botanical gardens in a number of regions in Indonesia by collaborating with other parties. The plants that are found in Kebun Raya Batam come from various small Indonesian islands which make them rich in colour, shape and size among many other differences.[3]

Its location is close to Hang Nadim Airport, Kampung Terih Tourism Village, Nuvasa Bay Batam, Nongsa Beach Batam and Nongsapura Ferry Port. Kebun Raya Batam can be reached by both private and public transportation.
