Bats4Life
Bats4Life[edit]
Bats4Life is a nonprofit focused on the collection, refurbishment and distribution of used cricket bats to disadvantaged communities[1]. The organisation was founded in 2016 by Hamish Bogdan and Patrick Proper, two 15 year old school students in Melbourne, Australia[2]. Bats4Life's mission is the collection of cricket bats to provide for communities who are disadvantaged and cannot afford adequate cricket bats[3]. Bats4Life is made up of 15 employees, including Head of Operations (Hamish Bogdan) and Head of Fundraising and Branch Management (Peshala Dissanayake)[4]. In March 2018 Bats4Life established its first interstate branch (Bats4Life New South Wales) a subsidiary of Bats4Life Melbourne [5]. Bats4Life New South Wales is co-run by Jules Vahl, Will Rogers and Lachlan Macfarlan[6] .
Achievements[edit]
Since its establishment in 2016 Bats4Life has achieved the following:.
- Established a partnership with the International Cricket Council. [7]
- Raised $14,000 on the first night of fundraising art exhibition for autism charity Willo Industries [8].
- Awarded a 2017 Higgins Community Award. [9]
- Established Bats4Life New South Wales (March 2018).[10]
- Featured on the Australian Broadcasting Corporations Radio National Program[11].
- Partnered with All Nations Cricket[12].
