Battlaxe[1] is a Lebanese metal band from Beirut, founded in 2018 by Wissam Al Baltaji and Dio Al Miqdad from Maysaloon [1] a band from Syria. Battlaxe style is a mix of Thrash, heavy infused with Middle Eastern music. The band's first studio Extended Play, Walls of War, was released on thursday the 21st of June 2019. Battlaxe currently working on its second album, by the end of 2021.

History[edit]

Origins (2018)[edit]

Battlaxe was formed in winter of 2018, with just two members: Wissam Al Baltaji (Lead guitar/Rhythm guitar) and Dio Al Miqdad (Bass guitar/Drums programmer). Battlaxe started working on its first EP. Meanwhile, Wissam Al Baltaji was searching for a sessionist to sing the written vocal lines. During this period of time the band was looking for lead guitarist to write the solo parts unfortunately the band failed to find a Lead guitarist but in the other hand Wissam Al Baltaji was able to convince Charbel Haddad the vocalist of the band Fall from Eden [2] to put his vocals on the EP.

2019[edit]

After the band failed to find a Lead guitarist Wissam Al Baltaji the founder of the band decided to write both lead and rhythm parts without including solos. Right in the mid of 2019 Battlaxe entered the studio to record its debut Extended Play, exactly one year after the band creation. The band released "Walls of War" on Thursday, 21 June 2019 which received its first critic.[2] One month after the release Jake Shuker the founder/lead guitarist of the band Maysaloon [3] called Wissam Al Baltaji to discuss things about Battlaxe after a 2 hours of open discussion Jake Shuker decided to join the band as lead guitarist. By the end of December the band has written 5 completed tracks.

2020–present[edit]

Troubles started to rain on the band gradually, Wissam Al Baltaji the rhythm guitarist of band decided to leave Lebanon in the mid of June and to reside in Turkey-Istanbul. Covid-19 wasn't helping at all so the band postponed the writing session of the album but thanks for the internet band meetings didn't stopped, Wissam Al Baltaji failed to find a job in Turkey so he decided to get back to Lebanon. Currently the band is working on a single and a full album to be released by the end of 2021.
