"Battle In Style" or "BIS" for short is the official brand identity of the battle royale game Garena Free Fire. The "Battle In Style" brand identity was unveiled globally in 2021 together with Free Fire's first-ever global brand campaign. According to Harold Teo, Garena Free Fire Producer, "Battle In Style seeks to inspire players to stay positive and have fun, even when taking on challenges or chasing aspirations in life.".[1]
Campaign[edit]
Launched together with "Battle In Style" brand identity in 2021, there were several global and local Battle-In-Style-themed brand campaigns launched around this period as well.
2021 Global Battle In Style Campaign[edit]
The 2021 global Battle In Style campaign ran across the whole of November with a film called "Life is a battle, battle in style"[2] as the start. Telling the story of an ordinary girl battling and overcoming challenges in Garena Free Fire game and in real life, the film tries to inspire youngsters today to battle in their own styles in both game life and real life. The campaign ended with a live performance[3] by Garena Free Fire's virtual band called T.R.A.P., utilizing interactive technology to allow viewers a chance to get involved in the performance[4].
2021 Mexico Battle In Style Fashion Show[edit]
Garena Free Fire presented its new brand identity, Battle In Style, in a show held in Mexico City. During the show, several iconic aspects jumped from the game to reality through a fashion runway curated by three Mexican artists and content creators: Alexia Ulibarri, fashion designer; Fabiola Zamora, photographer and co-founder and co-editor of the Magazine 192; and Celeste Pellegrini, influencer and content creator. The vision was to blur the lines between reality and fantasy and inspire gamers to face any challenge with their own style within the game and in their own life[5].
2021 O Jogo Virou[edit]
Garena Free Fire Brazil took advantage of a commercial break during the Fantástico TV show to promote “O Jogo Virou” (a Brazilian campaign amplifying the “Battle In Style” brand identity) and the versatility of the game. The video looks at how the game is enjoyed by young people in different places, for different reasons[6]. This campaign was also ranked as being among the top 5 creative branding campaigns in Brazil in 2021[7]
