The Battle of Buynak was a phase in the Ottoman-Russian Wars and the Russo-Caucasian struggle.
In 1594, the Russian army led by Ivan Hvorostin, aiming to invade Dagestan, suffered a major defeat near Buynak at the hands of the Gazi Kumyk Khanate army, which was reinforced by Ottoman soldiers[1]
