In June 26th, 1797, Joachim Denisko crossed the Austrian-Turkish border near Zaleszczyki with 200 men, beginning the Denisko Uprising, planned since 1796. 4 days later the Polish forces clashed with the Austrians in Debronowice and were annihilated. Captured Poles were hanged on July 11th near Czerniowce, some Poles managed to escape to Turkey; By the end of July the Uprising was successfully crushed.
