The Battle of Haldighati was fought between Rana Pratap of Mewar and the Mughal army led by Man Singh I of Amber in 1576. Rana Pratap was defeated but he did not submit and continued the struggle. Akbar tried to win over the Rajputs wherever possible. He inducted Rajputa kings to Mughal service and treated them the same as Mughal nobility. By marrying Harakha Bai, daughter of Bharmal in 1562. Akbar displayed his secular policy with the Hindus. The supremacy of Akbar was known by Rajput rulers especially to Rana Pratap and his son Amar Singh. This led to the Battle of Haldighati. [1]
