The Battle of Periș took place in Periș, Wallachia, on August 24th 1546, when many boyars fled into Hungary and Transylvania, they wanted to dethrone Mircea the Shepherd.
Background[edit]
After Mircea the Shepherd became voievode of Wallachia, he commanded many boyars to be killed, including: Coadă Vornicul, Radul Comisul, Dragul Stolnicul, Stroe Spătarul, și Vintilă Comisul. Before being killed, they were tortured to say where money and jewels were hidden. After this, many boyars fled into Hungary and Transylvania, from where they twice tried to attack the voievode. The first try was at Periș and the second at Milostea.
Battle[edit]
On August 24th 1546, the boyars' army was in Periș. The army of Mircea the Shepherd attacked the boyars and their army by surprise and he ended all of them.
