Battle of Požarevac

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Battle of Požarevac (Serbian Cyrillic: Битка код Пожаревца) was first fought on 18 May 1804.[1] The Battle of Požarevac is better known as the Liberation of Požarevac (Oslobodjenje Požarevca).

With arrangements (both strategic and tactical) made in Belgrade, Karađorđe took Stanoje Glavaš, Jakob and Janko Katić and at the head of an army went to Požarevac. There Milenko Stojković and Petar Dobrnjac [2]with their detachments were already waiting. The Serbian army stopped at the bank of the Morava river, encircled Požarevac, and after a day of fighting, the Turks surrendered and were allowed to withdraw to Vidin[3]. Požarevac was freed on the 7th- or 8th-day of Easter 1804.[4]
