Battle of Vračar (Serbian Cyrillic: Битка на Врачару) fought on 17 February 1804 was the first battle of the Serbian Revolution in 1804, led by Karađorđe.[1]Vračar was always considered a Serbian sacred place, albeit a symbol, during the entire Turkish occupation. [2]It is no wonder that the Temple of Saint Sava was built in Vračar district. During the First Serbian Uprising the insurgents who were mortally wounded or had died in battle were brought into the camp at Vračar's plateau, where they were buried later. [3]In 1847, Gligorije Vozarević erected a cross in his meadow in Vračcar with the following inscription: To God and people, Gligorije Vozarević, 1847, in Vračar.
