The Battle of Greens is the annual cricket match (Big Match) played between Royal College, Wayamba and Sir John Kothalawala College. It is usually played at Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala.[1][2]

Eight matches have been played up to 2012. Wayamba Royal registered the first ever win in 2011. Wayamba Royal vice captain Tarindra Ekanayake captured a five wicket haul to register this historic win.[citation needed] The match held on 16 March 2016 was won by Sir John Kothalawala College beating Royal College Wayamba by 155 runs. The match held on 31 March 2017 was won by Sir John Kothalawala College beating Royal College Wayamba by nine wickets.

The "Battle of Greens" is filled with jovial acts such as flags and Baila singing and dancing groups presenting themselves around the city and the ground during match days.[citation needed]
