The Battle of Vlorë was fought between June and August 1920 in the city of Vlorë during the Vlora War. Albanian nationalist forces launched an uprising against Italian troops who had occupied the region after World War I.

Background

Following the end of World War I, Italy maintained military control over Vlorë and surrounding territories. Albanian leaders opposed the continued presence of Italian forces and organized resistance.

Battle

Albanian fighters attacked Italian positions around Vlorë and in nearby villages. Using guerrilla tactics and coordinated assaults, they gradually weakened Italian control over the area. Fighting continued throughout the summer of 1920.

Aftermath

Facing continued resistance and political pressure, Italy signed the Protocol of Tirana in August 1920 and agreed to withdraw from most of Albania, retaining only limited strategic positions for a short period.

The battle became a symbol of Albanian national resistance and sovereignty.
