Establishment[edit]

Bauerfeind ANZ officially launched its operations in Australia in 2017. Bauerfeind AG is a German health care equipment manufacturer supplying bracing, compression garments and insoles since 1929. It was founded in the city of Zeulenroda-Triebes Germany by Bruno Bauerfeind and later lead by Rudolf Bauerfeind and then Hans B. Bauerfeind. Bauerfeind ANZ's Managing Director is Walid Yassine.

History[edit]

Bauerfeind was established as a pioneer in the development of medical grade compression and remained solely focussed on compression stockings until the 1981 release of the first GenuTrain knee brace. Since then, Bauerfeind expanded its product offerings significantly, with braces, supports, insoles and compression products suited to a wide range of usages and indications. Today, Bauerfeind employs more than 2500 people in over 30 countries, maintaining its commitment to innovation and quality as a family run business with a global mindset.

Olympic Involvement[edit]

Since 2002, Bauerfeind has been a firm fixture of the Olympic athletes medical care. Initially, Bauerfeind offered its orthopaedic services exclusively to German athletes, treating them in the German House at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City (2002), Athens (2004), Turin (2006) and Beijing (2008).

With consistent high performance and results, Bauerfeind gained the attention of the International Olympic committee. At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, Bauerfeind became the official partner to the Olympic Games Organising Committee and provided care to athletes from all participating countries. Bauerfeind continued this involvement and role throughout subsequent Games including, London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio de Janeiro, Pyeongchang and Tokyo 2020 (2021).

NBA and NBATA Involvement[edit]

In 2018, Bauerfeind and the NBA announced a multiyear partnership making Bauerfeind's GenuTrain and Sports Knee Compression Support an officially licensed knee support of the league. The ties between Bauerfeind and the NBA started more than a decade earlier when athletic trainers introduced players to the original GenuTrain knee support. The active support has become an integral part of NBA teams' injury prevention and treatment.

Bauerfeind's official brand ambassador is Dallas Mavericks' power forward and 13-time NBA All-Star Dirk Nowitzki. "I've been a fan of Bauerfeind products for many years now," said Nowitzki. "I have been able to rely on my body for 21 seasons – and Bauerfeind helps me to do that. Its products are world-class."
