Be More Chill is an upcoming American sci-fi musical teen comedy film, based on both Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz's 2015 stage musical of the same name and Ned Vizzini's 2004 young adult novel of the same name.

Plot[edit]

Jeremy Heere is your average, nothing-special teenager at Middleborough High in nothing-special New Jersey, until the day he finds out about "The Squip," thus Jeremy begins his journey to be popular against his struggle to remain true to his authentic self.

Production[edit]

Development[edit]

In October 2018, Shawn Levy and Greg Berlanti agreed to produce the film adaptation of the musical Be More Chill, with Dan Cohen and Sarah Schechter also set as producers, with 20th Century Fox distributing. Joe Iconis, the musical's composer, will executive produce. In 2019, the film became one of the titles that continued to be developed during the studio's purchase by The Walt Disney Company. Later that year, Berlanti, who was originally set to direct the film, dropped out as director, while still being set to serve as producer. It is still unclear under Disney's ownership of the studio whether the film will move forward.[1][2]
