Beau Ushay is an Australian marketing consultant and technology advisor based in Adelaide, South Australia.[1] He founded Astraeus Labs, a technical due diligence and artificial intelligence advisory firm working with the Australian and New Zealand mergers and acquisitions market, and runs Virtual Marketing Management, a fractional marketing practice.[1]
Career
Ushay started out in destination and education marketing with Extreme Adventures (2001–2004) and CAPA International Education (2004–2008), running inbound programs between Australia and the United States.[1]
A move into Sydney agency account management followed in 2008, with Simple Truths and Niche Marketing Group, then digital communications consultancy Concep from 2010, where he advised legal, accounting, and banking firms on B2B digital strategy.[1]
Between 2011 and 2016 he worked in commercial integrated marketing for Sydney digital publishers: News Digital Media across IGN and AskMen (2011–2013), then Ziff Davis Australia as Commercial Projects & Marketing Manager (2013–2016), overseeing campaign production for IGN, AskMen, and PCMag.[1][2] During this period AdNews published his opinion writing on digital video strategy[2] and quoted him in its analysis of location-based mobile marketing.[3]
Ushay established Ushay Consulting Group and its fractional marketing practice, Virtual Marketing Management, in December 2016, providing outsourced marketing leadership to small and medium-sized enterprises.[1] Agency roles ran alongside the practice: Head of Media at Pacific Content and Tribal Live (2017–2018), where he produced and hosted live gaming broadcast formats including That Gaming Show Live, and Projects Director at The League Agency (2018–2020).[1]
From 2021 to 2022 he worked with Business SA as a facilitator under the Australian Government's Entrepreneurs' Programme, developing recovery plans for regional South Australian businesses affected by the 2019–20 bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
Astraeus Labs
Ushay founded Astraeus Labs in March 2024. The Adelaide-based consultancy provides technical due diligence, software assessment, and artificial intelligence risk evaluation for private equity firms, corporate M&A teams, and investment banks.[1] The firm's first public tool, Suadela, is a free assessment that scores how effectively Australian wine marketing assets communicate to Chinese buyers and importers.[4]
Ushay leads the South Australian Business Chamber's Growth Accelerator Program, a nine-month mentoring and workshop program for scaling businesses supported by the South Australian Office for Small and Family Business.[5][6] He is a business mentor with the Chamber, an industry judge for the Pause Awards,[7] and has written on digital customer experience and AI adoption for iTnews and Digital Nation.[8]
Education
Ushay holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from the Queensland University of Technology.[1]
