Beaufort Memorial Hospital
Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH) is a 197-bed, non-profit hospital on the banks of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Beaufort, South Carolina. An acute-care hospital and regional referral center, it is the largest medical facility between Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. It serves Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper counties. The hospital is located at 955 Ribaut Road in Beaufort, SC and opened in 1944. In November 2020, the Beaufort Memorial Okatie Medical Pavilion was opened[1] with more than 30 physician practices and medical services, including Beaufort Memorial's second cancer center and third Express Care clinic.
The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission[2]. In addition to the hospital accreditation, The Joint Commission has certified BMH's chest pain, joint replacement-hip and joint replacement-knee programs, as well as the advanced certification as a Primary Stroke Center. In 2011, it was designated as the first Pathway to Excellence hospital in South Carolina.[3]
Beaufort Memorial services include cancer care, emergency medical care, heart and vascular services, maternity, orthopedics, primary care, and women's health services. Beaufort Memorial has a clinical affiliation with MUSC Health (Medical University of South Carolina).[4]
Beaufort County's Code of Ordinances[5] established the hospital's Board of Trustees[6] as an agency of the county council.
The Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation is the fundraising arm of the hospital.[7] The BMH Foundation hosts its signature Valentine Ball each year in February.
