‘’‘Behrouz Ghonsouli’’’ (Persian: بهروز قنسولی‎; born 17 November 1956) is an Iranian musician and teacher specialising in the qanun and santur. Born in Zahedan, his work spans Persian classical music and orchestral music. He began studying music in his teens, initially learning the santur and tombak, before choosing the qanun as his principal instrument.

Ghonsouli began working with Iranian radio and its orchestras in the 1970s. He appeared on music programmes including ‘‘Taknavazan’’ and ‘‘Saz o Ghazal’’ and, over a career spanning more than five decades, has contributed to radio broadcasts, Persian music ensembles and studio recordings.

His approach to the qanun is rooted in the Persian radif and dastgah traditions. His performance work includes improvisation, accompanying vocal performances and musical dialogue with instruments such as the violin and oud.

Ghonsouli has worked with musicians including Siavash Zendegani and Mahmoud Rahmanipour, among others. In 2024, he performed the qanun solo on the orchestral piece ‘‘Metacognition’’, composed and arranged by Behnam Khodarahmi. The piece later received a medal at the Global Music Awards.

Alongside performing and recording, Ghonsouli has taught the qanun and santur at music schools for many years.
