History[edit]
In 1844, the Ministry of Education founded a fledgling "Trade School", which had three classes and four teachers. By the decree of Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević in 1858, a new Trade School was established.
With the founding of the Real Gymnasium in 1865, the Trade School ceased to exist. The entire staff and students were included in a new structure called "Realka of the trade direction". That Realka had six classes, with 26 subjects assigned to summer and winter courses.
The history of the Trade School continued after a break of almost a decade in 1881, with the founding of a private trade school called the "Royal Serbian Railway and Trade School". By an act of the ministry in 1892, it grew into the "State Trade School".
At the very beginning of the 20th century, by the decree of the king Aleksandar Obrenović in 1900, the State Trade School grew into the Serbian Royal State Trade Academy. After the end of the First World War, the Serbian Trade Academy was renamed the "State Trade Academy" and existed under that name from 1919 to 1944. The purpose-built building was constructed in 1929 and is located at Cetinjska Street (today's First School of Economics). At the beginning of the Second World War, the building was turned into Nazi German barracks. After the war, the School continued to operate in the same building as before. Then it was renamed the State Lower Trade School with a home for 300 students. The school received the rank of a secondary vocational school and was renamed the "Jezdimir Lović" Trade School, named after one of the pre-war trade assistants and People's Hero Jezdimir Lović. In 1993, the school celebrated its 150th anniversary. That same year, it was returned to its original name - "Trade School".
Endowment in Hilandarska Street[edit]
The endowment of the married couple [Kiki] [Kiki] is the Kiki Palace, which is today located in the center Belgrade, on the corner of Cetinjska and Hilandarska streets. According to the testamentary wish of Evgenija Kiki, in 1934 the construction of the BTO home (Trade School of the Belgrade Trade Youth) began, in which the Trade School in Belgrade has been permanently located since then. Without her own descendants, Evgenija Kiki has preserved the memory of thousands of sales assistants who lived in the home. Her name, as well as the names of her parents and husband, are still on the facade of the building.
