Bella White (born Isabel Farley White, July 15, 2000) is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter, and musician. Her musical style combines elements of bluegrass, country, folk, and Americana.[1][2][3] Early Life White was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada[4] where from an early age, she was exposed to bluegrass, old-time, Appalachian, and country music through her father, a traditional musician from Virginia who also played semi-professionally.[3][5][6] Career White began performing at family gatherings and open mic sessions at age 13.[4][5] After graduating high school in 2018, she performed at small venues and regional festivals in Alberta and British Columbia.[3] In 2019 she relocated to the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, sharing a house with musicians associated with the Berklee College of Music. In 2020 she moved to Nashville, Tennessee.[5] White's debut album Just Like Leaving was recorded in March, 2020 at Guilford Sound in Vermont, produced by Patrick M’Gonigle of The Lonely Heartstring Band, mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Dave Sinko, and self-released.[2][3] Rolling Stone characterized White's sound as "Sublime Appalachian heartbreak."[1] Just Like Leaving was re-released by Rounder Records after White joined the label in 2021.[7] References
