Bellamkonda Venkateswarlu
Sri Bellamkonda Venkateswarlu (born early 1920), popularly known as Naidu garu was a reputed sculptor in Guntur. He served in the Indian army in the 1940s and in the 1950s he worked as an art director for a few films in the Telugu Film Industry. He was more interested in drawing and painting since childhood, and started his career in sculpture after exploring different career paths. Sri Bellamkonda Venkateswarlu started his work in different mediums like cement and bronze and later expanded it to fiber as well. Since he started, his total number of works is more than 300. He dedicated the latter part of his life to learning and specializing in every aspect of sculpture. He worked in Guntur Medical College in the anatomy department as an artist and had done a major part of the artwork, including several sculptures [1] and famous paintings on the Guntur Medical College campus.
Personal life
Bellamkonda was married to Vanajakshi and had two daughters, Kamalasri Kavuri and Nagasri Potharlanka, and one son, Srinivas Bellamkonda.
Awards
Bellamkonda Venkateswarlu was honoured with several awards and felicitations, and was also given a presidential award along with the title “Shilpa Ratnam” and a Gold medal during the reign of Shri V.V Giri. Bellamkonda is featured in the Indian Express for his relentless work on art.

Bellamkonda used to teach the art of sculpting to many amateur sculptors for free, as he believed that “Art can never be sold but learnt”.
