Bellyrock is a musical genre that first appeared in the 1950's. It combines a dance that originates in Egypt with tures movements of the hips and torso with a musical genre from African-American music such as jazz, rhythm and blues, boogie woogie, gospel, jump blues, as well as country music. While bellyrock formative elements can be heard in records from the 1930s in artists like Huddie William Ledbetter, it has evolved to take many different forms depending on the country and region, both in beat, costume, dance style, and guitar solos.
