Bensaou was born on 27 December 1958 in Montbéliard, France. He earned his Diplôme d’Ingénieur (MSc) in Civil Engineering from the École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’État in Lyon, France, and a DEA in Mechanical Engineering from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France.[1] He received an MA in Management Science from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, Japan, and completed a PhD in Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the United States. Academic career

Bensaou is a Professor of Technology Management and Professor of Asian Business and Comparative Management at INSEAD. [1] He served as Dean of Executive Education at INSEAD from 2018 to 2020. [1] He was Visiting Professor at Kobe University from 2021 to 2022. [1]

He has previously held academic appointments at Harvard Business School (1998–1999), the Wharton School (2007–2008), and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley (2013–2015). [1]
