Ben Rhyne (born June 27, 1991) is a former American football punter. He played college football for the Stanford Cardinal football team from 2010 to 2014.
Early life[edit]
He graduated from Charlotte Country Day School in 2010 and played for head coach Bob Whitman. Rhyne was an all-state punter, swimmer, and lacrosse player and was named the Charlotte Observer Athlete of the Year.[1]
College career[edit]
Stanford[edit]
After redshirting his first year, Ben Rhyne played in each of the next four seasons as a punter, kick-off specialist, and holder. As a senior, Rhyne was named the Pac-12 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year.[2] He averaged 42.9 yards/punt on 52 punts and had just two touchbacks, including a season long 60-yard punt vs. Michigan State in the Rose Bowl.[3] Rhyne earned a B.S. in Biomechanical Engineering and M.S. in Management Science and Engineering with a 3.88 GPA while playing at Stanford and was voted NFL.com's smartest football player of the year in 2014.[4][5]
Professional Career[edit]
Cleveland Browns[edit]
After a successful collegiate career Rhyne signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2015.[6] Following his time in Cleveland Rhyne joined Crestview Partners, where he is now a Vice President and sits on the boards of Industrial Media[7] and SyBridge Technologies.[8]
