Bendelese people

The Bendelese people are an Edoid-speaking meta-ethnic group located in the states of Edo and Delta, southern Nigeria. They are composed of 7 constituent ethnic groups: Edo, Urhobo, Esan, Etsako, Owan and Akoko-Edo. As well as being linguistically related, all 7 groups are culturally and historically having all been part of the Benin Empire between 1440–1897.
