Beni Saqqar is a Berber tribe that inhabits the area close to Saqqara, the ancient burial ground in Egypt.
Name
The name Beni Saqqar means "Sons of Saqqar".[1][2]
Saqqara
The ancient burial ground in Egypt, Saqqara, was named after this tribe. Since the Beni Saqqar are not indigenous to the area, they would not have fashioned themselves as being born of an ancient Egyptian god, whose identity was unknown until the age of archaeology.
