Benilde Little
Benilde Little is an African-American author of fiction and nonfiction.[1] Her first novel, Good Hair, was a #1 Blackboard Bestseller.[2] Her most recent book is the memoir, Welcome to My Breakdown, about her mother's death.[3]
Born in 1958, Little grew up in Newark, New Jersey and graduated from Weequahic High School, also the alma mater of author Philip Roth.[4] Little is a graduate of Howard University and worked as a reporter at People and an editor at Essence.[5]
Little married Clifford Virgin 3rd, a financial consultant, in 1992.[6] They are the parents of daughter Baldwin and son Ford and live in Montclair, NJ.[7]
