Benjamin Alan is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada. He began in the music scene in March with the release of his debut single ‘Any Other Way,’ which is now streaming on all music platforms (Spotify / Apple Music / etc.). However, his interest in songwriting and music production began a long time before the release of his first single.
Ever since Benjamin was able to talk, he was always singing or musical in some kind of way. He really started to pursue music at the age of 15 when he began posting covers of himself singing popular songs on his YouTube channel and on the singing app Smule. All the while, he was working on learning music production on the side for fun. That’s where his whole passion for songwriting and music production began.[1]
Early Life
Benjamin was born on August 11, 1997, at approximately 2 pm, to parents Gwen and Darrell. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and has an older brother named Chris. Benjamin has had a guitar in his hands since the day he could walk, and took to songwriting early, as he would create his own songs at the age of 4 with his dad’s guitar.
Career
2019-2020: Career Beginnings
In September of 2019, Benjamin set out on his biggest challenge of writing a 5–7 track EP, which (for business reasons) will be released as individual singles. The first two singles from that project, ‘Any Other Way’ and ‘Like to Be Loved,’ are out now and can be streamed on any major streaming platform. The subsequent songs from his EP will be released once a month. There is currently a total of 7 songs directly related to this project; however, Benjamin is always working on new music and is always building new projects for himself as well as working on collaborations with others.
Musical Influence
His music pulls inspiration from a lot of his favorite artists, such as Lauv, Shawn Mendes, Jeremy Zucker, and other phenomenal pop artists. His style of writing varies based on the song, but is leaning towards a pop/alt-pop sound.[2]
