Benjamin Chiao

Benjamin Chiao is Professor and Academic Dean for Asia Programs at PSB Paris School of Business. His areas include Digital Economy, Internet Economics, and Network Economics, and Chinese Economy. His PhD is from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor[1]. His commentaries in the media worldwide include areas such as telecommunications[2][3], digital economy[4][5], cyberspace management[6], trade war[7], financial markets[8], Chinese economy[9], Hong Kong economy[10][11][12][13][14][15], and COVID-19 pandemic[16].

His research papers focus on the economics and management of technologies. He has created an anti-spam mechanism called "Uncensored Communication Channels" or "Open Channel" together with Jeffrey Mackie-Mason. Extending this earlier theoretical consideration from email spam management to Internet management, he proposed the use of experimental methods to properly innovate the regulation of the Chinese cyberspace[6] . He has also studied the economics of standard-setting organizations with Josh Lerner and Jean Tirole.
