Benjamin (Ben) D. Harburg (born October 22, 1983) is an American businessman. He is the Managing Partner of MSA Capital, a global investment firm with $1.5 billion in assets under management. Under Harburg's leadership, the firm has expanded its global presence, enlarged its capital base, and increased its investment activity around the world.[1] He lives in Beijing and Santa Fe.

Career and education[edit]

Harburg has been Managing Partner of MSA Capital since 2015. Notable MSA portfolio companies[2] include Meituan (3690.HK), Uber (NYSE: UBER), NIO (car company) (NYSE: NIO), Mobike (Acq: Meituan), BGI (SHE: 300676), Xiaozhu, Kanzhun, Tuijia, and Pintec (NASDAQ: PT).

In additional to his role as Managing Partner, Harburg is a member of the MSA Capital's Investment Committee and Compliance Committee.

He serves on the boards of various private MSA portfolio companies.

Prior to joining MSA Capital, Harburg worked at The Boston Consulting Group in the firm's Berlin and Dubai offices.

Harburg received his B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University in 2006.[3] He was recognized as the first native born American to attend Tsinghua's PBC School of Finance, where he is completing an EMBA.

Philanthropy and public positions[edit]

Harburg serves on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on United States-China Relations.[4] He is also a members of the Boards of Advisors of the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy[5] and the Tufts University School of Arts & Sciences.[6]

A fourth generation New Mexican, Harburg sits on the Board of Directors of New Mexico Technical University Research Park Corporation[7] and is a member of the Governor’s Council on Entrepreneurial Development.

Awards and recognition[edit]

Harburg was a Fulbright Scholar[8] at Rhur University Bochum, where he was based in the Institute for Oriental and Islamic Studies.
