Benjamin James Brenkert

Benjamin James Brenkert (1980– ) was born in Queens, NY, and grew up in Valley Stream. He graduated from Marist College in 2002 and subsequently entered the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) in 2005. He left the Jesuits in protest of the firing of lesbian and gay paid employees and volunteers by the Church. His first book is titled A Catechism of the Heart: A Jesuit Missioned to the Laity (Wipf and Stock, 2002).
