Benjamin Roebuck
Benjamin Roebuck (c. 1755 – 1788)[1] was a South Carolina Militia leader who served in the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). Entering service during 1778 as a lieutenant under General Benjamin Lincoln, he became second-in-command of the South Carolina Spartan Regiment of Militia and led a battalion at the Battle of Cowpens[2]. After being wounded in the shoulder during the Battle at Mud Lick, he was captured and sent to Ninety Six. He was exchanged in August 1781, and took charge of his own regiment (Roebuck's Regiment) under General Andrew Pickens (congressman). Never recovering from his wounds, Roebuck died in 1788.
