Benjamin Walter (born March 26, 1988) is a French film director, screenwriter, director of photography and producer. Benjamin Walter directed the award-winning feature film Pink Zone[1].
Biography[edit]
Award-winning filmmaker Benjamin Walter grew up in the royal city of Versailles (France), cradle of the "Electro French Touch" (Air, Phoenix, Alex Gopher, Michel Gondry) and as far back as he can remember he's always wanted to tell stories. In 2011, he graduated from the highly selective school of Journalism of La Sorbonne (Paris), and then directed several documentaries, including the viral "Who framed the movie critic ?"[2]. In 2012, he moved to Los Angeles and got into the Directing Program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he directed a bunch of stylized genre shorts. There, he also began writing his thesis feature film, Pink Zone. Benjamin has written, produced, directed, shot and edited the movie[3].
Career[edit]
Benjamin Walter started his career of storyteller as a journalist. After studying journalism at La Sorbonne, Benjamin Walter became a movie critic. He directed the documentary Who framed the movie critic? (Qui veut la peau du critique?) featuring journalists Guillaume Durand, Thierry Chèze and Éric Naulleau, which reveals the battle between critics and artists in France.
Benjamin Walter has always preferred fiction[4]. He directed several stylized genre shorts : Everyday (2012), Interior Night (2013) and Nymph of Damnation (2013).
In 2014 Benjamin Walter released Pink Zone which is a science-fiction feature film. Pink Zone had its world premiere at the Chinese Theatre as part of the Dances With Films Festival[5] and premiered at the 35th Fantasporto International Film Festival[6] where filmmakers like David Cronenberg, Luc Besson, Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro got their first breakthrough.
