Bernhard Kowatsch[1] is a German citizen who lives in Munich. He is Head of the Innovation Accelerator at the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

Education

He holds a CEMS Master in International Management from HEC Paris Business School.[2]

He also has a Master’s degree in International Business from WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business).

Professional Career

In 2005, he started his career at The Boston Consulting Group[3] as a project leader. In 2010, he was appointed as Head of Business Innovation at World Food Programme.[4] Bernhard joined Share The Meal as co-founder and managing director, and currently he is the Head of the Innovation Accelerator at the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).[4] The WFP Innovation Accelerator was named by Fast Company as Best Workplace for Innovators and Innovative Team of the Year 2020 for its work in identifying, nurturing and scaling disruptive startups and innovations to end global hunger. In 2020, innovations supported by the Accelerator positively impacted the lives of 3.7 million people across the globe. The Accelerator also runs programmes for external partners such as BMGF, Humanitarian Grand Challenge and others.

Bernhard is also a TED[5] speaker. His famous speech, named “The mindset shift needed to tackle big global challenges,” has received 1.7 million views.
