BestChange is a website-aggregator of data about exchangers and e-currency exchange rates.[1][2]
History[edit]
Monitoring began working on June 19, 2007. At the time of launch there were 25 exchangers in the listing. Rates information was updated every 5 minutes. Popular exchange directions at that time were WebMoney and E-gold.[3] In 2018, they are Qiwi, Bitcoin[4][5] and Perfect Money.[6][7]
In 2013, the project acquired the most popular projects of obmenniki.com and cursov.net in 2006–2008, thereby becoming the largest and oldest monitoring.[8] Currently when entering these two sites the users are redirected to BestChange service.[9]
The project is based on a metamediary model, i.e. helping a deal to take place between a seller and a buyer via providing information and offering relevant services, whilst not taking a direct participation in the deal. One of the service’s peculiarities is that there is no advertising on all the company’s resources.[10][11]
Administration takes care of selecting exchangers after full check of their reputation on the Internet and various metrics (for instance, certificates and accounts in payment systems).[12][13]
According to the majority of financial periodicals, BestChange is number 1 in CIS countries among similar monitorings judging by the number of reviews and client traffic.[14][15]
Today monitoring has the leading position in the market of searching for exchanges e-currencies. Today there are as many as 400 active exchangers in the monitoring. The speed of updating exchange rates has increased by several times and now around 45 thousands of active directions are updated once every 3—4 seconds.[16]
Functionality[edit]
The main functionality of the website is comparing exchangers by various directions with a view of finding the most profitable offers in live mode. Moreover, the exchanger has a number of other functions: converter, calculator, reviews system, complaints submission and bonus faucets. Also the monitoring offers detailed statistics on rates and reserves. Special function Double exchange suggests the best scheme out of two exchanges via a transit currency.[17]
The project has API, which is being actively used by exchangers. To make usability more convenient, the service has a number of apps and browser extensions. The users enjoy first-line support via email and social networks.[18]
Blocking[edit]
In Russia[edit]
39 Russian online-exchangers and monitoring BestChange were blocked on the basis of St. Petersburg court ruling in May 2017.[19] In February 2018 the court cancelled the blocking.[20]
In Belarus[edit]
In April 2018 the largest provider in Belarus blocked access to the site. But in several weeks the blocking was cancelled.[21]
Fight against phishing[edit]
Since the second half of 2017 fraudsters have launched a large campaign on creating phishing copies of the website and pages in social networks. Every day the staff of the company and the partners block up to 10 fraudulent exchanges and phishing websites using various services.[22]
