Betenbough Homes
Overview
Betenbough Homes is an employee-owned homebuilding company headquartered in Lubbock, Texas.[1][2] Founded in 1992, the company operates in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa, offering single-family homes with an emphasis on first-time homebuyers. As of 2025, Betenbough Homes has built over 20,000 homes across West Texas.[3]
History
Betenbough Homes was established in 1992 by Ron and Rick Betenbough, a father-and-son team who sought to provide affordable new homes in West Texas. In its first year, the company completed 11 homes in Lubbock.[4] Early on, the company adopted a cost-plus pricing model, which adds a fixed margin to actual construction costs rather than pricing homes based on market rates.[5]
In 1999, Betenbough Homes became an employee-owned company.[6] The business expanded to the Permian Basin in 2007[7] and to Amarillo in 2015.[8] Leadership transitioned in 2012 when founder Rick Betenbough appointed a new executive team. In 2016, Cal Zant became company president,[9] and in 2023, Jeanna Roach was named CEO of Betenbough Companies, the homebuilder’s parent organization.[10]
By 2025, Betenbough Homes employed nearly 450 people and had completed its 20,000th home.[11][11]

Operations and Business Model
Betenbough Homes utilizes a cost-plus pricing strategy, which adjusts home prices based on actual material and labor costs, with a fixed margin. If costs decrease, prices are adjusted down, and savings are passed on to the buyer. This approach differs from traditional market-based pricing and is aimed at increasing pricing transparency and affordability.[5]
The company manages much of its supply chain internally. It operates Elevate Building Supply, a subsidiary focused on sourcing construction materials, and partners with local trade professionals across its regions of operation.[15][17] In 2020, Betenbough launched Impact Title to streamline the closing process for homebuyers.[14] They launched Olive Branch Home Loans in 2025 to help provide a seamless lending experience to their home buyers.[18] The company also invests heavily in cost-efficient construction methods. These include advanced framing systems, engineered trusses, and a phase building process that helps streamline operations and ensures high quality.[19] Strategic relationships with trade partners and an in-house purchasing team ensure materials are sourced at competitive prices.[15][17]
A two-year home warranty is provided with each home purchase.[20][21]
Mission and Values
Betenbough Homes is a Kingdom business that seeks to honor God in its operations, relationships, and community engagement. The company's mission is to build, serve, and impact:
- Build: Betenbough Homes believes God has given them a passion for gathering resources and the vision and diligence to create something that did not exist before. The company is committed to striving for excellence while providing affordable new homes without compromising on quality or style.
- Serve: Betenbough Homes strives to positively impact everyone they encounter, from their trade partners and home buyers to the cities and school districts they build in. They give to community organizations in need of volunteers or financial support.
- Impact: Betenbough Homes aims to make a meaningful difference, reaching in and far beyond the communities they build in. That impact can best be measured by those who have experienced it first-hand. They've compiled years' worth of those testimonies from Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa.[22]
This threefold purpose is woven into every aspect of the business, from design and construction to customer care and beyond.[1][3]
Home Buying Experience
Betenbough Homes offers a guided home-buying journey led by New Home Specialists who assist buyers in selecting the right floor plan and navigating every step of the process.[23] Buyers can choose to build from the ground up or select from a variety of quick move-in homes.[24] Many quick move-in options come with financial incentives, such as Use-It-Your-Way (Flex) Cash, which can be applied toward closing costs, design upgrades, and more.[25]
Personalization is a major part of the Betenbough Homes experience. Home buyers can curate their space with a wide range of design choices, including cabinetry, backsplashes, countertops (granite or quartz), and fixtures, to suit personal style and budget.[26]
The company also partners with trusted local lenders, many of whom specialize in creative financing solutions, including credit repair, down payment assistance, and $0 down loan options. This partnership assists prospective buyers, regardless of financial background, with affordable pathways to homeownership.[27]
