Beth Budniewski is an American educator and former insurance professional from Buffalo, New York. She is best known for her work as a STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) teacher at Notre Dame Academy in South Buffalo and for her contributions to youth education and community safety initiatives in the Lovejoy neighborhood.
Early Life
Budniewski was raised in Buffalo, New York, and attended the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, where she majored in dance from fifth grade through her senior years.
During her time there, she trained in multiple dance genres and participated in several athletics programs, including volleyball, softball, soccer, hockey, tennis, and track.
Following high school, Budniewski performed with a dance company in New York City, appearing on professional stages before returning to Buffalo in 2003 after sustaining injuries. She then enrolled at Buffalo State College, pursuing education to “give back to the youth” who inspired her during her own schooling.
Career
Insurance Industrry
In 2007, Budniewski joined GEICO as a licensed insurance agent.
She earned her New York State resident property and casualty insurance license', along with non-resident licenses in several states. Over fifteen years with the company, she worked as both a service and sales agent and sat on GEICO’s philanthropic donation approval board’. She left the insurance industry in 2022 to pursue full-time teaching.
Teaching
Budniewski joined Notre Dame Academy, a Catholic school in South Buffalo, as a STREAM teacher for grades 6 through 8.
Her curriculum integrates science, technology, and business skills with real-world applications—students learn to manage bank accounts, write checks, apply for jobs, and run a classroom store with direct-deposit paychecks.
Hands-on projects include paper-airplane aerodynamics, bridge construction, agriculture, city design, and video-game development. Budniewski also introduces students to artificial intelligence and drone technology.
In addition to teaching, she has served as moderator for Notre Dame Academy’s Media Club and Volleyball Club, helping promote teamwork and communication among students.
As of 2025, she is listed as a building substitute teacher at Notre Dame Academy.
Community Involvement
Budniewski has been active in civic advocacy within Buffalo’s Lovejoy neighborhood, where she has lived her entire life.
In 2018 and 2019, she collected signatures to petition for increased traffic safety measures at the intersection of North Ogden and William Street, urging local authorities to install stop signs and improve visibility for pedestrians and drivers.
