Beth Chalmers is an English actor, voice-over artist, and television writer.

Career

Beth Chalmers is a British actor, voice-over artist, and television writer. In November 2019, alongside writing partner Amy Shindler, Beth created and wrote the 13-part TV series Mystic. [1] It was broadcast in 2020 on CBBC, Australia's Seven Networkand New Zealand's TVNZ. She also co-created and wrote Pat & Cabbage[2] which was broadcast on primetime ITV. Other writing credits include Threesome[3] on Comedy Central, Horrible Histories[4] for BBC Television, and Pauline Pepys's Dowry[5] for BBC Radio 4.

After growing up in Hampshire, Beth graduated from Cambridge University in 1996, where she toured with Cambridge Footlights. She went on to study acting at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Upon leaving drama school, she won the BBC Carleton Hobbs Award[6] in 1999 and joined the BBC Radio Rep. She has since performed in over 300 dramas and comedies, including playing Sylvester McCoy's companion in Doctor Who for Big Finish[7], Radio 4's Think the Unthinkable[8], and Absolute Power[9] with Stephen Fry, as well as being the reader in Radio 4's The Write Stuff[10] for 14 years. Her various television performances include the Christmas special of BBC's Miranda[11] and Marina Fellows in ITV's Midsomer Murders[12].

As a voice-over artist, Beth has appeared in a number of dramas in the Warhammer 40,000[13] series and voiced many animations, including the BAFTA award-winning educational series Numberblocks[14]. She played Queen Martha in Mike the Knight, and Momma in Henry Hugglemonster[15], voiced Xenia in the film Strike[16], and Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter video game adaptations. Beth has also narrated many audiobooks[17], including the Frieda Klein series by Nicci French for Penguin Random House[18].
