Beth Porter is a British cellist, songwriter, and composer known both for her contributions to the music industry and to film music. With a career spanning various genres and collaborations, Porter has established herself as a prominent figure in the UK folk and acoustic music scene.

Collaborations and projects[edit]

Porter is a member of Lost Words Spell Songs,[1] a musical ensemble dedicated to bringing literature to life through music. She has performed at prestigious events such as The Proms,[2] showcasing her diverse talents as a cellist and songwriter.

In addition to her work with Lost Words Spell Songs, Porter is also one half of The Bookshop Band, alongside Ben Please. Together, they write and perform songs inspired by literature, releasing fourteen albums and touring extensively across the UK, Europe, and the United States most recently collaborating with Pete Townshend on their album, Emerge, Return.[3]

Porter has toured with artists such as Newton Faulkner, The Heavy, and Peter Gabriel, and has collaborated with a diverse array of producers and engineers.

Notable film credits include contributions to Far From The Madding Crowd (2015)[4] and the BAFTA-winning animation The Eagleman Stag (2010).[5] She is also an award winning film composer, know for her collaboration with composing partner Ben Please, with an Ivor Novello nomination and British Animation Award win for her work on Aardman Animations' first animated musical, Robin Robin.[6][7]
