Bethel Revival Choir

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bethel Revival Choir, founded by Mr John Awagah in the early 1990s, is a Ghanaian contemporary gospel choir under the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), Trinity Parish, located at Kotobabi in Accra, Ghana. The choir was founded with about five (5) members, but currently has a membership of about 150. Membership comprises both workers and students.

The Choir is directed by renowned Ghanaian music director Henry Datsomor and headed by Cynthia Datsomor-Fiattor, with an 11-member executive body.

The choir released its first album, dubbed ‘Halleluyah’, in December 2007. In May 2010, the choir embarked on a monthly, 2-hour period of uninterrupted praise and worship themed ‘In His Presence’ on every first Sunday of the month, except for January, which is usually used to strategize and plan for the year. ‘In His Presence’ has been very successful and has blessed many souls over the past years. ‘In His Presence’ has seen many Ghanaian gospel ministers lead the congregation in praise and worship. A few of these ministers include the late Danny Nartey, Nii Okai, Pastor Hellen Yawson, Uncle Ato, Joe Mettle, Denzel Agyeman Prempeh, Eugene Zuta, Calvis Hammond, Elliott Lamptey, Edwin Dadson, and almost every contemporary worship leader in Ghana.

In June 2018, the Choir released its second album, dubbed ‘Akpe’. The ‘Akpe’ Album sought to project praise and worship through a rich blend of five languages, eight different deep-rooted Ghanaian and foreign music genres, contemporary and African rhythms, hymns, orchestra, rearrangements of old church choruses, and new, exciting, and deep songs of praise, worship, and encouragement. The Akpe Album featured 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards winner, Joe Mettle, who led two of the songs on the album, with other gospel ministers such as Calvis Hammond, Eugene Zuta, Pastor Edwin Dadson, and Elliott Lamptey all leading various songs.
