Better Collective
Better Collective is a digital sports media group headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. It owns and operates national and global sports media brands including Action Network, Playmaker HQ, Betarades, Soccernews, Wettbasis, VegasInsider, SvenskaFans, Tipsbladet, FUTBIN, HLTV and Dust2.[1]
History
Better Collective was founded in 2004 by CEO Jesper Søgaard and COO Christian Kirk Rasmussen. Initially, they built a website to provide sports statistics and betting tips in order to help sports enthusiasts place informed bets and get the most value for their money. It was not long before they started directing their users to reputable iGaming operators.
A big milestone for Better Collective was in 2006 when the duo acquired the tipster community Bettingexpert. To this day, Bettingexpert remains a notable social network of sports betting enthusiasts.
In 2011, Better Collective earned its first Gazelle, a prestigious award by Denmark’s business newspaper Børsen, for doubling its turnover during a four-year period.[2] This trend has continued for nine consecutive years.
In 2016, the company physically expanded beyond Danish borders and established an office in Niš, Serbia. Today, Better Collective operates across multiple cities and continents.[3]
The company went public in June 2018 and is listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm main market under the ticker symbol BETCO.[4] This move allowed Better Collective to raise capital and further expand its operations globally.
In 2019, the Danish group entered the US by acquiring domestic sports betting and daily fantasy sports brands, RotoGrinders, VegasInsider and ScoresandOdds.[5]
The same year, Better Collective entered into a media partnership with UK national newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, to bring sports betting content to the publication’s readership. Since then, media partnerships have become a strategically important part of the business.[6]
The largest deal in Better Collective’s history was the acquisition of Action Network in 2021.[7]
In 2022, Better Collective added FUTBIN, a brand related to the FIFA esports game, to its foundation within esports, made of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive platform HLTV.[8]
