Beyond Charts, 2020, is a historical fiction novella telling the tale of a fictional continuation of the Scottish Jacobite fight for independence upon the high seas.

Plot

Years following the Jacobite Rising of 1745, Aaron Rankin, a young man whose father had died at the final great Battle of Culloden, moves to Glasgow with his benefactor of unknown origins. Soon upon arrival, he finds himself in mysterious circumstances at the tavern they are staying at, named after the hideout of the notorious renegade Cluny MacPherson. Shortly after, he is convinced by his benefactor into being recruited as a marine aboard a merchant ship of the British East India Company. Upon setting out on voyage and far from home, he begins inexplicably running into various members from the tavern, eventually including his benefactor as well, who at last informs him of a covert plot in the name of Scottish Independence. Events following will forever change the life of this unsuspecting hero.
