Beyond Oak Island

Beyond Oak Island is a spin-off program to The Curse of Oak Island. It premiered in 2020 and ended in 2023. It revolves around the Lagina Brothers learning about other treasure hunter's stories. Beyond Oak Island digs deep into the many treasure quests across the globe, revealing amazing new details and clues from past searches - and in some cases, advancing the hunt.
With season 2, metal detectress Gypsy Jewels was introduced, and much more hands-on stuff happened. Season 3 was set primarily in deep underwater dives. The show to be followed by a brand-new spin-off (RUMOR).
Format
The show is hosted by Matty Blake, who introduces a treasure hunt mission in the war room beginning with the topic. It could be outlaws, civil war gold or something. Then he'd bring up the guest who has a (usually more successful) treasure hunt of their own, and they'd come up on video call. They'd hit it off and set up a flight to what is usually the southern US. states- Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, Utah, Carolina. During the meeting, there may be a brief essay from the narrator regarding the history, which lends quality to the show. Matty would next be seen (occasionally Marty/Rick go as well) on-location, meeting with the guest treasure hunter. Sometimes, there'd be a tour in a museum or a briefing at their home or a pub. However, this never lasts, and the good episodes involve getting right to the hunt, out in the summer heat and digging or detecting in hopes of finding something. "They dig around, say something is definitely here, it warrants further investigation, but then they go home." After the hunt, they'd go back to the war room and get an update on the hunt or break down the trip, saying it went well, and feel invigorated to return to their own treasure hunt on Oak Island.
Important Missions

The first missions were largely historical lessons, then a trip to the desert or the river. In season 1, Matty investigated outlaw gold and civil war gold, and Gary Drayton visited the superstition mountains. Rick and Marty were also more up front in the missions, travelled more. (which is interesting, due to it being shot over the first COVID summer). Season 2 saw a dramatic increase in quality. There are a history lecture on the very successful riverboat riches in Massachusetts, but the very best episode of the show, in Texas metal detecting with Gypsy Jewels for the loot of Sam Bass. This was followed with the 2-part 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, involving remnants of the Challenger disaster, also character named Hoppy Eubanks searching for the San Saba Mine in Mineral Springs, Texas. A recurring mission is the missions to do with Poverty Island. This mysterious paranormal government island in Massachusetts warranted up to 4 missions. The final season brought investigation to the Atocha shipwreck in Florida, which was a personal favorite of Rick/Marty. They also stayed in Florida for digging on a beach (with actual swimmers in the water) for the gold of Captain Louis Aury. They continued the franchise of notorious pirate Peter Easton in Newfoundland, going to Oderin Island and boating up the coast. Two episodes this final year, which was mostly repeated missions, were compilation "best-of" episodes. Overall. Each episode was a masterpiece, but the lack of variety probably spelt the end for Beyond.
