Bhakti Mathur

Bhakti Mathur (born 7 November 1972) is an Indian author and feature writer, best known for writing the popular ‘Amma Tell Me’ and the ‘Amma Take Me’ series of children’s books. ‘Amma Tell Me’ is a series of picture books on Indian mythology and festivals, written in rhyme. ‘Amma Take Me’ series, published by Penguin Random House India, is a travelogue of a mother and her two children as they travel to places of historical and religious importance in India. Her 16 published books are widely available in bookstores and on Amazon. Mathur is also a feature writer and has written more than 30 articles on culture, lifestyle and fitness for the South China Morning Post.

Early Life

Mathur earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi (1990-1993) followed by a Masters in Finance, from the University of Delhi (1993-1995). In 1995 Mathur obtained the CFA Charter and was a CFA Charterholder from 2005 to 2017. Mathur received an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Hong Kong in 2017. Mathur worked as a banker from 1995 to 2017, leaving the industry in 2017 to pursue writing.
